We finally received a very important update from our trade association Federagenti related to VISA "D" for non EU seafarers.

"The most important news is that this visa allows the holder not only to stay in Italy up to 365 days, but also to spend up to 90 days in every 180 days in other Schengen countries, during the visa validity period. In other words, non-EU seafarers do not have to apply for a C visa anymore if they have obtained an Italian D visa (please note that Consulates/Embassies only release one visa at a time for Italy)."
